Who am I?
Hello. My name is Dex, and I’d like to tell you how I can help you achieve your goals!
First, I have a little background for you to explain why I’m here typing this to you. I started athletics as soon as I possibly could in life. The first complex movement I ever learned was how to swing a baseball bat. My parents taught me how to swing a bat and throw a ball as soon as I was able to stand. In fourth grade, I started playing football for the local peewee league. In fifth grade, I started watching the World’s Strongest Man competition, and I watched the great Mariusz Pudzianowsk win an excellent show! (I would continue to watch this competition every year, and I absolutely fell in love with the sport.) I joined wrestling in 7th grade and continued all three sports until I graduated high school. I was a three-sport athlete, an all-area football player, an all-state wrestler, and a mediocre baseball player, who loved to DH.

After high school, I decided to wrestle for the University of Wisconsin – Parkside, the only D2 in Wisconsin. I was a very unique wrestler in that I liked putting my own spin on things and finding what I called “efficiencies.” I wrestled for a few years until I ended up leaving the team for personal reasons. My focus shifted to my accounting degree, internship, and lifting. During my junior year of college, I realized what my true athletic calling was: strongman. That passion burned bright within me and would only get brighter as I fanned the flames by training strongman as best I could in my college gym.

After I graduated college, I moved to Madison, Wisconsin with my then girlfriend, now wife, Becca. I immediately joined MadTown Fitness and met an excellent group of strongmen. They took me under their wing and taught me what they knew about the sport. I learned from watching them, and then, I did exactly as I had done in wrestling. I added “efficiencies.” I learned that there were a few things I could do that made some of the movements easier. For instance, when I shoulder a sandbag, I do not take the time to lap it. In my personal experience, going from the ground to your shoulder can keep the momentum moving in your favor the entire time. I have many more of these, and they may work for me but not for you. That is the wonderful thing about strongman and strength training in general! There are some basics that apply to everyone, but for the most part, what applies to one person may not apply to another. I love finding the “efficiencies” that work best for each person!
How I Can Help You?
So why do you care about this? Well that’s a solid question, and as it turns out, being in athletics your entire life exposes you to a VAST amount of programming. I had programs for baseball, football, and wrestling. I had programs for the off-season and programs for late-season. We had a powerlifting team for football that we’d train for every summer, and our coach was a local strongman. When I went to college, we had programs for every type of season that you can think of. After I graduated I had custom programs written for me, I bought staple programs such as the Juggernaut method and 5-3-1, and I’ve now written my own programs for the past few years. When it comes to programming, I’ve seen a wide array of it from recovering from an injury to trying to add as much onto your deadlift as you can. In the last few years, I really started to pick the programs I have been exposed to apart and learn what I do and don’t like about them. I’m learning more about training and the importance of not only proper movements but proper preparation and warmup work. There may still be concepts that I’m unfamiliar with, but I am learning and my promise to you is that even if I don’t have the answer you seek, I will do my research and find someone who does have that answer.

My Promise to You
I can help you reach your goals because I learned how to reach mine. By subscribing to my programming, you’ll get something that’s tailored to you and your goals. I will personally work with you to figure out the best method for your training. Let’s work together to reach your strength goals!
